The Opportunity

Over the past three years, COVID19 and ongoing lockdowns has had significant impact on the Education sector.  Many people are feeling burned out and there has been some hesitancy to step into leadership, and to embrace additional responsibilities. Our client, a regional coeducational private college prioritises sustainability, learning, wellbeing, custodianship & belonging.

CLA had the opportunity to facilitate the Sustainable Leadership Program tailored to the College’s context, values, strategic plan, and desired leadership capabilities. CLA delivered a highly interactive program, with workshops delivered onsite for a new and emerging leadership team.

Methodology

The Sustainable Leadership Program comprised the following learning journey: 

  • Workshop 1 – Leading a Sustainable Self
  • Workshop 2  – Leading for Sustainable Teams 
  • Workshop 3 – Leading a sustainable Organisation and Community 
  • In-person workshops focus on evidence-based, practical strategies to support healthy choices and behaviours for leadership wellbeing and performance
  • Hogan assessments and Coaching Circles to allow leaders to further explore concepts and to share learnings from their practical application at work with other leaders across the school.
  • Comprehensive evaluation to gather participant feedback and degree of mindset shifts across the learning journey. 
  • Regular client meetings to ensure project governance across life cycle. 

The Outcome​

Participants reported the following shifts:

  • 35% + increase in Self-Awareness
  • 19% + increase in Motivation to Develop
  • 29% + increase in Confidence
  • 26% + increase in Understanding of Leadership

All skills measured pre and post-program increased from an average of ‘Competent’ to a greater proportion of participants reporting themselves as ‘Highly Skilled’ with the largest shifts occurring across difficult conversations, giving feedback, leading change and complexity, and understanding values and mindset.
