Assessment for Executive Development

The Client

​Our client works to improve the performance of the Victorian public sector to provide services more effectively and efficiently. Established in 2016, our client offers executives ongoing professional development to lead in a changing and complex world. They design and deliver programs to support leadership development for public service executives.

The Opportunity

In 2018, CLA won the client’s multi-year contract to deliver Phase 1 of a 3 Phase, 12-month leadership program that involves developing a suite of leadership insight tools mapped to the client’s Leadership Capability Framework. This program of work aimed to create capability uplift across the Executive levels. The intended population to complete this program was 750 executives. 

 

Methodology

CLA designed a customised methodology as follows: ​

  • Co-design and selection of various diagnostic tools carefully mapped to the Leadership Capability Framework. These were delivered via a technology portal solution designed by CLA’s technology delivery partner, PsychPress. The tools deployed included:​
    • Talent Q personality instrument (a Korn Ferry tool)​
    • Leadership Experiences Survey (a CLA tool designed for our client)​
    • Client specific 360° tool (a CLA tool designed for our client)​
    • CLA Leader Mindset Indicator™ – Australia’s first measure of mindset.
  • As partners with our client, we were instrumental in supporting them to advocate for an insights-based leadership development approach that provided hundreds of leaders across the organisation with a development-for-one experience that addressed each individual leader’s unique development needs and leadership journey.​
  • Further to the delivery of insights diagnostics, we facilitated information sessions with Executives in HR, People and Culture across the public service; delivered the solution and trained coaches on how to run the feedback sessions with each participant and presented at Welcome Sessions for each cohort alongside the key stakeholders, participants and their managers.

 

The Outcome​

The program was exceptionally well received and helped to elevate our leadership brand. Feedback was very positive and participants continued to enrol in the program.
